University of San Diego, Learning Commons

A new mixed-use facility will support the growing need of classrooms on the University of San Diego campus.

The two-story building is 40,000sf incorporating classrooms, lecture space, collaboration rooms and lounges, administrative offices, and landscaped outdoor teaching courtyard, event plaza, and multiple common spaces, located on the lawn north of Copley Library.

The design will take advantage of the good weather San Diego frequently sees with automated windows that will open to allow a cross breeze through the building and alleviate the need to constantly run the HVAC system.

Meaghan Christman, Senior Project Manager, Planning, Design and Construction at USD wrote on the college’s website, “…through careful coordination and teamwork, the construction team has hit every major milestone and has accomplished this without a single safety incident!”
